Scholarship - Exploring the Honors Study Topic

Every two years, Phi Theta Kappa selects an interdisciplinary Honors Study Topic for chapter study. The new topic is announced every other year at the International Convention. This section lists several ideas your chapter may use in implementing the 2006-08 Honors Study Topic, "Gold, Gods, and Glory: The Global Dynamics of Power" Consult The 2006-08 Phi Theta Kappa Program Guide for a complete listing of ideas.

Part of putting scholarship into action involves recognizing scholarship among fellow students, faculty and students on the high school and elementary levels. Some chapters also have activities to help those less fortunate by tutoring and encouraging at-risk high school students to stay in school. Even though the primary emphasis remains on the current Honors Study Topic, all of these activities are a part of scholarship and a part of what has become one of Phi Theta Kappa's most recognized roles on campus - that of academic leader and champion for scholarship in two-year colleges.
